Life presents many different goals and ideas that we all wish to accomplish.
One of the hardest things that we can do is achieving those without bounds.
Fortunately what I’m here to present to you today are 7 Actionable Ways to Achieve Any Goal you set out for yourself.
As you can see, this is pretty broad, however, if put into place properly, you will find your goals will be more accessible than ever.
So what are these ways?
- Set Smart Goals for Yourself
- Accept that Failure is Inevitable
- Assess the People around You
- Take Risks
- Leave Fear at the Door
- Trust the Journey
- Believe In Yourself
Where these might seem a bit broad, I’m going to dive deeper into each of these ways to achieve any goal now.
Set Smart Goals for Yourself
Smart Goal setting is something that many people don’t know, nor understand. How to Set a goal is the base of how to achieve any goal.
However, How do we set smart goals?
Well, that ties within the goals you already have.
One thing that I’ve learned from one of the college courses that I’ve taken is about smart goal setting and what it entails.
For some reason it has stuck with me for years.
But smart goal setting starts with your goals being attainable.
If we have a goal set out for ourselves, we have to ensure that we are setting ourselves up for success rather than failure.
This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t set goals that are reaching for the stars, rather you set those goals and have smaller goals leading up to that path as you make your way.
Also, you must ensure that your goals are extremely specific (Think I want to sell X Amount of Products within the next 3 months, and in the next 12 months I want to sell Z amount).
When Achieving Any goal, you have to ensure your goals are set up properly from the start.
Accept that Failure is Inevitable
Now here is a tough one, you have to be ready to fail.
We all are going to fall on our faces during the journey, especially when we are working on achieving specific, measurable goals.
Let me be the first (And not the Last) to tell you, that you will fail on the way to achieving your goals. But don’t let this stop you from continuing to push through the hardest times along the way.
From experience, I have faced many different times to where I have failed at certain ideas, but that led me back to my place on my journey, here.
Regardless of what you are seeking to achieve, you will fall on your face at least once, and if you haven’t well…. you dodged life’s most lethal bullet.
Failure is a phenomenon that follows closely with goals. Failures define who we are, and every time we fail, it is the biggest learning experiment that we possibly could have partaken in. Check this solid post on how Failure is important in our lives here.
Understand we are all looking to achieve goals, some of us are closer, some further, however we are on that journey. Failure will happen often, take it from Thomas Edison who Failed 10,000 times before he perfected the light bulb. In his words “I didn’t fail, I just found 10,000 ways that did not work!”
There are a ton of examples in modern history that we can reflect upon to see that we aren’t the only ones that will fail.
To achieve your Goal, the number 1 thing that you have to do is Fail.
Assess the People Around You
Something that is often overlooked in personal goals, is the people around you. Oftentimes we surround ourselves with people that can either support us, or hurt us.
A good rule of thumb is to keep your inner circle small, sometimes this even means family. My experience has come from having big, and small inner circles, and ultimately guess which one I settled with? A small inner circle.
You don’t want to have people around you that are going to be toxic, these types of people will continuously drag you down, until you’ve hit rock bottom and can’t bring yourself back up. Toxic people are found in even the most obvious places, but at the same they can be in plain sight.
Your circle you want to have a balance of people, those who are there all of the time to support you, and other who seem to come out of the woodwork and have your back.
Those type of people will be a main support system while you are on your journey, so you can fall back on them when the going gets tough.
Your goals like I said will lead you to failure, sometimes more than once. Your circle of people around you will be a awesome system so that you can lean on them when you are hitting that failure point.
At the same time, the people around you will give you support when your goals are near and far.
Your circle will give you a clear vision onto how to accomplish your goals, and a safety net.
Now here is where it gets interesting.
In order to achieve your goals, you have to be willing to take risks.
Put it this way, if you don’t take risks you never will achieve anything.
Risks, especially as you are young and able (Keep in mind, this can be applied at anytime and doesn’t have an age limit), should be taken in order to head in the right direction.
Now what do I mean by taking risks?
This essentially is when you get to step outside of your comfort zone, and do something that most might seem crazy, or unattainable.
Risks are the thing that keeps you going, or takes you to the next level. To achieve a goal, you must take risks. That is simply it.
Some of you might be thinking: Well, I’m not comfortable jeopardizing where I’ve reached thus far in life.
I suggest you go back and read the section on Failure…
Anyway, one of the things that I’ve come to understand is that risks are scary….. Extremely scary.
You might want to quit after the first day, but in order to get toward your goal you have to be willing to push past, and see your goal. With that in mind, you will have another key step in achieving anything.
Leave Fear at the Door
This ties strongly back with taking risks.
Fear is the number 1 thing that will hinder you in life. If you are afraid of taking risks, or anything to that matter, you will fall behind.
Let me say first though that fear is natural, it is okay in moderation, however we cannot let it hinder us from pursuing what we feel in our hearts.
What you can count on for sure is that this portion is going to be the hardest. Fear is something that is such a natural feeling, that especially when we are taking risks like I stated above, it gets amplified even more.
See the difference here is that we don’t want it to take a hold of us, to where we cannot keep moving forward.
That is the real key: Keep moving forward.
There isn’t much more that I can say, but from this point on, always keep fear out of your way, and use it to your advantage. Fear can help, and hurt.
When you want to accomplish a goal, or anything, you have to know the limits of what your fear can bring you.
Trust The Journey
Now this is something that if you’ve taken the time to read some of my other posts (check out the most recent one here) you will know that I’m a huge advocate of the journey.
The journey is the one that we call life.
From what we’ve gone through up until this point has been a part of it. This makes us stronger, and makes us individuals.
Regardless of what you might think about the past, it is a part of us.
The journey starts taking us step by step toward what we want to accomplish. Our goals are a huge part of this.
One of the biggest thing on my journey was that of becoming a Dad (Mind you this has always been a goal of mine). Even if I wasn’t sure when this would happen, or how it did. I’ve been blessed with a family early on in life, which I’m working to show my true potential to, and be a role model for.
Your journey includes your goals, such as mine. In order to achieve anything, you have to “Trust the Process” (Gary Vaynerchuck fans have heard this one).
In order to achieve, you have to follow the path that has been laid out for you. This is your journey.
It might take longer, or shorter than you’ve planned, but you will get to where you want to be and accomplish any goal.
Believe in Yourself
Sit back, this is important.
In order to accomplish any goal you must Believe in Yourself.
That is the most important thing you possibly can do along this process. Where I can give you a step by step plan on how to get to a certain area of your life, if you don’t believe in yourself that is null and void.
Mind you, this is something that I struggle with at times, and that goes for each of us. I won’t sit here and say that you are going to be good, and ready to go 100% of the time, but with the 6 previous keys, you will always have your own safety net as well.
The root of success in life comes from believing in yourself. Without this, you will find it to be a pretty solid struggle to continue going.
To Achieve any Goal you have to believe in yourself. You will find that this is going to be your number 1 step.
When you believe in yourself you will find that this gives you self confidence, empowerment, and pride in what you are doing.
You find that your skills start to shine more, your passion grows and you genuinely just get better at your craft.
For all of those goals that you set out for yourself, you need to do this 1 thing to accomplish them. Once you get a strong handle on this, you will be able to continue moving forward, and ultimately achieve any goal that you set out for yourself.
